Seven killed in a road carnage in Kabwe

Seven people died on the spot while 3 others
sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in lost
control due to a tyre burst and overturned several times at
Mulyafzyanaka along Ndola- Kabwe road around 16:00hrs yesterday.

 

The vehicle involved was a Toyota Regius, registration number 4CD 782
driven by Mbangu aged 52 of Lusaka.

 

Police Deputy Spokesperson Charity Chanda said only two victims among
the deceased have been identified as Mukanda aged between 35 and 40
years and Shatton Manda.

 

 

ZANIS reports that  Ms. Chanda said this an a statement issued  today.

 

 

Mrs. Chanda indicated that other victims include two male infants aged

between 2 to 3 years and three unknown adults.

 

She said the injured that have been identified as Racheal Kilunda aged
23 and Safi a Congolese national including the driver are admitted to
Ndola Central Hospital while bodies of the deceased are lying at the
hospital mortuary.

 

 

Meanwhile, one person died on the spot while 17 others sustained
serious injuries after a Nissan Hard Body they were travelling in also
lost control and overturned at Chifumbe village Mwense- Mansa road 14
km from Mwense yesterday.

 

The vehicle with registration number ABT 8917, was been driven by John
Zulu aged 50 of ZESCO compound in Mwense.

 

 

Mrs. Chanda said the 17 victims have been identified and admitted to
Mwense Rural Health Centre and Mambilima Mission Hospital while the
body of the deceased is lying in Mwense District Hospital mortuary
awaiting postmortem.
