Govt. warns foreign nationals against disrespecting laws of the land

Solwezi, July 3rd,  2013, ZANIS — Government has urged foreign nationals in the country to follow and respect the Zambian laws.

.Home Affairs Deputy Minister Nixon Chilangwa says it was for this reason that government will not relent to take legal action against any foreign national found wanting.

Mr. Chilangwa explained that his office had recently received disturbing reports of some foreign nationals who allegedly been conniving with traditional leaders in the country to engage in illegal mining activities.

ZANIS reports that the minister said this in an interview over the long weekend.

He explained that foreigners were reported to have been taking the security of the country for granted  by engaging themselves in illegal activities.

“ These people  are living on borrowed time as the law will catch up with them, “ he said.

Mr Chilangwa said Zambia like any other country has laws which must be followed and respected by all and appealed to members of the general public to report to the relevant authorities any suspected illegal foreign investment in their areas.

He advised people in the country to take keen interest in defending the national security and protect the mineral wealth for the future generation.
