4 candidates successfully fill in nominations for Kafulafuta constituency

Ndola June 27, ZANIS………Four Candidates have successfully filled in nominations for the Kafulafuta constituency bye elections.

ZANIS Ndola reports that Kafulafuta constituency Returning Officer Darwin Chila named the successful four candidates as MMD’s Eva Mwanawasa, NAREP’s Jimmy Kasabwa, UPND’s Brian Chitafu and PF’s James Chishiba.

Ms Mwanawasa, who was accompanied by MMD’s senior party officials among party Vice Presidents for Administration Brian Chituwo, and political Micheal Kaingu and Late vice president George Kunda’s son Howard, was the first candidate to fill in her nominations at 11:00hours.

And Dr Chituwo appealed to MMD supporters to vigorously campaign for Ms Mwanawasa saying she had offered herself for the people of Kafulafuta.

“Ms Mwanawasa has offered herself to work for you, the challenge is now with you, go and campaign vigorously for her, as a party we work well with her,” he said.

And Ms Mwanawasa said she was willing to work for the people of Kafulafuta and to be their voice.

And NAREP’s Candidate Jimmy Kasabwa, who is a Public Administration student at NIPA and a reverend, said all the previous Members of Parliament for Kafulafuta had failed to deliver and promised to develop the area once voted into office.

He said his priority would be to work on the Congo/Zambia road which he said was impassible in the rain season.

Meanwhile UPND’s Brian Chitafu said he was the only candidate who was a local in the race.

He said he understood the issues of Kafulafuta very well because he had stayed in the area all his life.

And PF’s James Chishiba, who was accompanied by senior party officials among them party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba and Roan MP Chishimba Kambwili, said returning the seat under PF was going to be a walk over for him as he had the support from the people of Kafulafuta constituency.

Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili said it was ironic for opposition political parties to accuse the ruling PF of causing By-elections when they are also participating in them.

He said if the opposition parties are not for the by-elections then they should let the ruling candidates go through un-opposed.

“If they do not support by-elections they should not participate, they should let our candidates go un-opposed”, he said.
