Ruling Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Winter Kabimba has said Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) candidate for the July 25, 2013 Kafulafuta parliamentary by-election Evelyn Mwanawasa is not a threat.

Mr. Kabimba said Ms. Mwanawasa cannot ride on the legacy of late President Levy Mwanawasa for her to be popular in the area.

He said the PF, which has fielded James Chishiba for the Kafulafuta by-election, is headed for a landslide victory because MMD failed to develop the area during the reign of late President Levy Mwanawasa.

Mr. Kabimba, who is also Minister of Justice, said no matter what kind of force the opposition will form in Kafulafuta, the PF will scoop the seat.

He said for the first time in the history of Zambia, the PF is the only party which is dedicated to developing all parts of the country.

He has since appealed to traditional leaders in Kafulafuta, Solwezi East, Mkushi North and Chipata Central where there will be by-elections to encourage their subjects to go and vote in large numbers on July 25, 2013.

Other political parties contesting the by-election in Kafulafuta are United Party for National Development (UPND), which has fielded Brian Chitafu and National Restoration Party (NAREP), whose candidate is Jimmy Kasabwa.

The Kafulafuta parliamentary seat fell vacant after the then MMD Member of Parliament, James Chishiba defected from his party and joined the PF.
