Kalabo pedestrian dies on the spot by a speeding Land cruiser

 

Kalabo, June 21/2013, ZANIS —— A 34 year old man in Kalabo died on the spot while  a  28 year old male sustained injuries  when they were both  hit by  speeding a Toyota Land Cruiser.

 

ZANIS reports that Kalabo Police Officer-in-Charge Kim Masambo confirmed the incident in an interview  in Kalabo  District , today.

 

Mr. Masambo  named the  deceased as Siyunda Namakando of Muyu Village, Chief Ishawambuto in Mongu district and the survivor as Ackim Kayombo Mubanga of Njunga Village, Chief Mundia in Muyumbana area in Kalabo district.

 

“  The accident  happened at  Kalenga area along the Mongu-Kalabo Road this Wednesday around 10 00 hours after been hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser hard topper registration number A L J 9100 that was been driven by Victor Mbao, “ he said.

 

Namakando met his fate when the duo were riding their bicycles with Mubanga cycling along the white line.

 

It was when Mubanga heard the vehicle hooting from behind swerved in panic in both directions making the driver of the Land Cruiser lose control in trying to avoid him ending up hitting Namakando.   

 

The deceased sustained head injuries , a suspected broken neck and broken right while Mubanga sustained minor injuries.

 

The body of the deceased is currently  lying in the Kalabo District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem .

 

Assistant Community Medical Officer at the district hospital Dr. James Changwe has described the condition of  Mubanga as very stable.

 

Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser  Mbao will appear in court soon over a charge of the death of Namakando.
