Govt. thanked for answering Teachers’ plight

— Teachers’ Unions in the country have thanked government for answering to the plight of accommodation for teachers.

 

 

And Zambia Union of Teachers (ZNUT) General Secretary Newman Bubala, who also thanked the Patriotic Front government for the decision to build more teacher houses.

 

 

Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PTUZ) General Secretary Kangwa Musenga says teachers in his union that government hasat long last  responded to their plight.

 

 

 

 

Secondary School Teachers Union of Zambia (SESTUZ) General Secretary Emmanuel Zulu says  that teachers in the country were happy with government’s recent pronouncement that it plans to construct at least 40 housing units for teachers in each province.

 

 

 

“  The  40 housing units to be built in each province will act as motivation factor which will improve the teacher performance especially for those working in rural areas, “ he said.

 

 

 

Mr. Zulu noted that Zambia has continued to have a situation where teachers shun rural areas owing to the bad accommodation conditions.

 

 

 

He said teachers have returned to urban areas after being deplored to rural areas because of the accommodation crisis despite getting the accommodation allowances.

 

 

 

He furthered urged government to considered extending the program to urban areas adding that the accommodation allowance that most teachers get is not enough to cater for the cost of rentals in most urban areas.

 

 

 

And Zambia Union of Teachers (ZNUT) General Secretary Newman Bubala, who also thanked the Patriotic Front government for the decision to build more teacher houses.

 

 

 

Mr. Bubala has observed that the policy be government to build more teacher housing units especially in rural areas is long overdue adding that teachers are ready to work in all parts of the country.

 

 

He said government should not consider building enough housing units wherever a school is build in order to avoid situations where teachers end up living in thatched houses.

 

 

 

Meanwhile,  Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PTUZ) General Secretary Kangwa Musenga says teachers in his union that government hasat long last  responded to their plight.

 

 

 

Mr. Musenga said government should continue building houses for teachers as a motivating factor adding that people in rural areas also deserve a good education like those in urban areas.

 

 

 

He said teachers because of the recent pronouncement by government to build more housing units are now motivated and ready to go and work in rural areas.
