Two killed in Chipata

–Two people have died in separate road traffic accidents in Eastern province.

 

 

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Grace Chipalila told ZANIS in an interview in Chipata that the two died in accidents that happened over the weekend in Chipata and Lundazi districts.

 

 

 

She explained that in Chipata, a 25 year old cyclist of Kameses village died on the spot after being hit by a Toyota Hiace vehicle registration number ALJ 3023 which was driven by Christopher Sakala of John Lainge compound in Lusaka.

 

 

 

Ms Chipalila disclosed that the incident happened yesterday along the Great East Road at Mukanile turn off around 08:00 hours.  

 

 

 

She said the man identified as Zindi Daka sustained head injuries and a fractured hand and his body is lying in Chipata general hospital mortuary awaiting postmorterm.

 

 

 

In Lundazi Ms Chipalila noted that Dickson Mtonga aged 18 of Lundazi died after he flipped off the moving vehicle.

 

 

 

She said the accident happened when the driver of a light canter hit in to a port hole along the Lundazi road.

 

 

 

The Police Commissioner said the deceased was one of the passengers in the canter, adding that he sustained injuries and died on the way to the hospital.

 

 

 

In another development Ms Chipalila said a 46 year old man of Milimbo village in Chief Pembamoyo’s area in  Vubwi district has committed suicide after suspecting his senior wife of having unfair with another.

 

 

She noted that Mateo Banda who was a polygamist with three wives took his life last night around 19:00 hours after taking suspected cotton chemicals.

 

 

Ms Chipalila disclosed that during the same day, the deceased and his family had a meeting to discuss the same alleged problem.

 

 

She disclosed that after the meeting it is believed that the deceased, went home and took the poisonous substance to take his life, the body is lying at Vubwi clinic mortuary.
