Chief Government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni has warned that law enforcement agencies would not hesitate to clamp down on trouble-makers.

Sakeni who is Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said in an interview that the allegations by the MMD leader were unfounded.

He advised Dr Mumba to exhibit political maturity and seek other means of airing grievances in line with the law but not to agitate for violence.

Sakeni however said the past had shown that youths were used by opposition to discredit the ruling party and that the violence taking place could have a similar root.

“Dr Mumba should understand that youths have for a long time been used to fan violence and there is no evidence that PF is behind any of such machinations. He should show political maturity to address such issues and not engage in divisive and violent plans. The law will visit anyone planning to cause violence,” he said.

Sakeni however said the past had shown that youths were used by opposition to discredit the ruling party and that the violence taking place could have a similar root.

He said such a matter required political maturity instead of accusations.

“They should not be naïve about this growing culture of youths harassing people but they should work with other political players including the PF to find a lasting solution to the problem unlike accusing and blaming other parties. Those who attacked the congregants are criminals and cannot be referred to as cadres, they are criminals who should be caged and as PF, we condemn such conduct,” he said.

He said Government was focused on developing the country and would not engage in violence.
