Kalungwishi Power Project in Luapula to start soon .

 

Mansa, May 30, 2013, ZANISGovernment says plans are under way to construct a multi- million kwacha Kalungwishi Power Project .

 

Labour Deputy Minister Ronald Chitotela  government has engaged the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO ) and the Lunzua Power Authority in the construction of power project.

 

ZANIS reports that the minister  said  this when he paid a courtesy call on Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya, yesterday.

 

He said Luapula Province has been characterised by power outages for many years which he said had retarded economic growth and development in the area.

 

Mr. Chitotela said  ZESCO management was actively talking with Lunzua Power Authority regarding the Kalungwishi power plant construction.

 

He said a team of experts from ZESCO and Eskom will undertake a site visit to the project area on June 20, 2013 which goes to demonstrate the seriousness of the undertaking.

 

And Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya said the coming of the power project to Luapula will ignite a host of economic activities and open up job creation opportunities for the people.
