–Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) Chairperson for elections, Kenneth Chipungu, has advised all its members to be royal to the party.

Mr Chipungu also urged all its Members of Parliament (MP’s) and the serving councillors not to defect but wait for the next general elections in 2016.

In an interview with ZANIS in Luangwa yesterday shortly before the nominations, Mr Chipungu said the unnecessary defections of members to other political parties are frustrating to the electorates who ushered them into power.

Mr Chipungu further said it is unfortunate that some politicians can be prone to enticement and cause by-elections, a situation he said robes the members of society huge sums of money which can be channelled to many national developmental projects.

Meanwhile, Mr Chipungu has maintained that the former ruling party will never lose sight of the democracy it has practiced in the last twenty years it was in office.

He said his party will continue to provide the checks and balances to the ruling party, adding that a formidable opposition is key to the development of democracy in the country.
