The opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) has named Samuel Sikaonga as its candidate in the June 20 Feira parliamentary by-election in Luangwa district.

NAREP has also named five other candidates to contest in the local government by elections in Central, on the Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces but is yet to announce the names of parliamentary candidates to contest the four seats across the country.

This is contained in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today by party Secretary General Jevan Kamanaga.

Reverend Kamanga said Nicholas Tembo will contest the Kabowa Ward, Paul Tembo for Pwazi Ward, Stephen Mumba for Justine Kabwe.

Other candidates in the local government by-elections are Kennedy Singoye for Chibale and Haggai Kabanshi for Masainga wards respectively.

Rev. Kamanga further disclosed that the party would field four other candidates for the Chipata Central, Feira, Kafulafuta, Mkushi Central and Solwezi East adding that it is geared for the polls in the areas and that victory was guaranteed.

The NAREP Secretary General appealed to female members of the party to show interest and apply for the seats if they were to participate in the governance of the nation.

Other political parties that have shown willingness to vie for the forth coming parliamentary seats are the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and opposition parties the MMD and the United Party for National Development (UPND).

All the political parties are confident of scooping the forth-coming rural seats to be held on June 20 and 25 July, 2013.
