MMD looses members in Mbala

Mbala, May 13, ZANIS —— Over 200 MMD members in Mbala Central constituency in Northern province have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).

The defectors were led by former Mbala Mayor Riley Simunyola.

And speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr Simunyola charged that the MMD has no future in the country’s politics and that members still clinging to the party were just wasting their time.

He accused MMD Mbala Central Member of Parliament Mwalimu Simfukwe of failing to steer development in the area.

Mr Simunyola claimed that Mr Simfukwe has neglected people in his constituency and does not visit them regularly to appreciate their challenges.

He observed that the PF party is more focused and result oriented hence the decision by his fellow defectors to join it.

And in welcoming the defectors, Northern Province Minister Obius Chisala said the PF government is ready to work with everyone who is geared to foster development in the country.

Mr Chisala said the ruling PF is an all-embracing party that will not turn away people from joining it.

He urged the new PF members to work hard and contribute to the growth of the ruling party in Mbala district.
