Deputy Minister of Works and Supply Mwimba Malama has called on drivers across the country to exercise caution when driving on public roads in order to reduce road traffic accidents.

Mr. Malama said it was sad that innocent lives have continued to be lost because of some drivers who fail to observe traffic rules.

He said this in an exclusive interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.

He said his ministry was concerned with the increasing horrific road accidents occurring within a short period of time.

Mr. Malama said government was working hard to reduce accidents.

He disclosed that his ministry and the Road Development Agency (RDA) have since embarked on expanding the road network in the country.

He said this in the wake of 17 people who perished in a horrific road traffic accident in Chisamba yesterday.

Survivors of the accident were reported to be critically injured and are nursing injuries at Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital.
