Namwala police cage man for attempting to kill wife

—-Police in Namwala district are holding a man, identified as Martin Chitanda, aged 33, years of Baanga village of chief Shimbizi of Itezhi tezhi district for attempted to murder his wife after a domestic quarrel.

 

Police sources in Namwala told ZANIS that Chitanda an Ila/Kaonde by tribe, stabbed Miriam Kapepe with a spear during a domestic fight between 17:00 hrs and 19:00 hrs on April 20, 2013.

 

The police have also apprehended two other people who attempted to rescue Miriam and ended up assaulting Chitanda in the process, beating him severely to the extent of cutting away part of his ear.

 

Police in the district are also looking for one of three people who assaulted Chitanda who is on the run.

Meanwhile, Miriam Kapepe, who was admitted at Namwala District Hospital on April 20, has been discharged after she recovered from the stabbing of her body.

 

Namwala District Medical officer, Davy Kaile, confirmed the development to ZANIS, saying Kapepe was discharged on Monday April 22, 2013 and that she would go for review after seven days.
