Man dies from excessive Kachasu


A 38 year old man of Zambezi district
in Chieftains Nyakulenga’s Chiefdom has died after drinking the highly
concentrated illicit beer popularly known as Kachasu.

North western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Paul Achiume
confirmed the development to ZANIS in Solwezi today and identified the
deceased as Agrey Chinyama of Chiyombu village in Chieftainess
Nyakulenga of Zambezi district.

Mr Achiume said upon the death of Chinyama members of his family
suspected foul play and decided to take his body to the house of
Linda and Josephine Shimishi where he was believed to have been
drinking from whilst issuing threats.

He said police went to verify the report after a tip-off by the
neighborhood watch in the area.

Mr Achiume said upon arrival, the police found the body of Chinyama
lying on the door of the house surrounded by many people.

He however said that the relatives of the deceased were advised to
bury as no foul play was suspected.

Police arrested Linda and Josephine Shimishi for brewing illicit beer
and discharged then after paying admission of guilt fines.
