North PS calls for networking

Northern province permanent secretary Hlobotha Nkunika has urged heads of government departments to network  if meaningful development is to be attained in the area.

Mr. Nkunika made the observation during a weekly briefing of heads of departments at his office in Kasama.

Mr. Nkunika said it was only teamwork and coordinated efforts that could usher development in the area.

He cautioned heads of departments who absent themselves from the weekly management meetings to stop the habit and join their colleagues  if smooth operations of government projects are to be implemented.

Mr. Nkunika expressed disappointment over the shunning of a field day organized by department of Agriculture last week.

In another development Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (CSAUZ) President Davis Hachiyobe has called for calm among members as the union has successfully concluded the 2013 negotiations with government.

Mr. Hachiyobe who held a meeting to explain the results of the negotiations at the Provincial Conference Hall in Kasama said the conditions will be affected on 1st September, 2013.

Mr. Hachiyobe also noted that their Union and Government have agreed for equal work and equal pay, health and Insurance schemes for workers.

He said other conditions clinched are rationalization, consolidation of salaries and a Bank loan scheme where workers will only pay 5 per cent as interest.
