Siavonga orphanage in SOS

Siavonga, April 15, 2013, ZANIS….Namumu Orphanage in Siavonga is appealing to the government and non-governmental organizations to assist alleviate the challenges the centre is currently faced with.

 

Orphanage director Phanuel Simamba explained says the major challenge is in-adequate infrastructure and lack of funding to rehabilitate and renovate the dormitories, classroom blocks and a health post.

 

He observed that government working with its cooperating partners like can assist the Orphanage in finding a strategic partner to help uplift the plight of orphans and vulnerable children.

 

Mr. Simamba said this in an interview with ZANIS in Siavonga today.

 

The Namumu Orphanage caters for 80 children with a catchment area of four chiefdoms in Siavonga district.

  

 

He stated that currently the orphanage has 55 orphans of which 28 are girls and 27 are boys adding that the centre has only two domitories one for each group.
