PF Administration determined to empower women-Choma DC

Choma, April 9, 2013, ZANIS – Chom District Commissioner Golden Nyambe says the Patriotic Front (PF) government is determined to empower women economically.

Mr Nyambe says the PF government has embarked on a number of initiatives targeting vulnerable women so that they are free from the shackles of poverty.

He said President Michael Sata is particularly concerned about the economic vulnerability of women and his government is working hard to ensure that necessary conditions are created to improve their welfare.

The Choma District Commissioner was speaking in Choma today when he officiated at the handover of a hammer mill by government to the Banji Banji women’s club of Kalukungu market.

Mr Nyambe has assured women of the unflinching support from the PF government which he said is the only regime that has openly shown bias towards women empowerment.

He says government will support efforts from women who are hardworking and willing to be assisted.

He urged women to form clubs if they are to apply for government assistance.

And Assistant Community Development officer Victor Nakasamu cautioned the women against bickering and abuse of resource generated from the hammer mill.
