Lusaka man escapes lynching

Lusaka, March 22, 2013, ZANIS —-  Obert Robe , aged between 22 and 24 , escaped unhurt  after his shop was looted by an angry mob for suspecting him of practicing witchcraft.

The incident occurred on 21st March, 2013 around 21:00 hours in John Laing Compound.

ZANIS reports that this is contained in a statement, today,  signed by Police Service spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela.

It is alleged that the owner of the shop abused the three juveniles aged between 12 and 14 which led to members of the public suspecting him of being a witch.

Afterwards they looted his shop and went away with groceries whose value is yet known.

Police only managed to recover two deep freezers which were abandoned outside the shop

The owner of the shop is still on the run and the case of child abuse is under investigation.
