Oriental Quarries scouts for KR 130, 000 for Cathrine’s defence bout

 

Lusaka, March 18, 2013 – ZANIS – Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotion (OQBP) stables says it is scouting for KR130, 000 to successfully host the boxing title fight between Zambian female boxer Catherine Phiri and Leslie Domingo of Philippines.

 

Zambia’s latest female boxing sensation, Catherine is expected to defend her World Professional Boxing (WPB) bantamweight title against her Philippines opponent who arrives tomorrow at 14:50 hours for the bout slated for March 23rd at government complex in Lusaka.

 

ZANIS sports reports that Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotion Director of Operations Chris Malunga confirmed the development in a telephone interview in Lusaka today.

 

Malunga says  that his organization has so far just managed to raise KR275, 000 of the required amount.

 

He has  pointed out that what is required to successfully host the event is KR405, 000 and appealed to stakeholders to come on board and assist in raising the remaining money.

 

He further added that the tournament cannot be postponed as preparations have reached an advanced stage in readiness for the fight.

 

Malunga said that Phiri was training hard and doing well stating that she was more than ready to battle it out in the ring with Domingo come March 23rd.

 

He called upon all the Zambian female boxing fans to turn up in large number to support her in order to encourage and boast her morale to beat and win her opponent.
