Luena Farm block in Kawambwa to boost country’s economy

Kawambwa District Agriculture Coordinator Samson Chipeta has said there are clear indicators that Luena Farm Block will do well this year and contribute to the country’s economy.
 
Mr Chipeta said a number of activities have been lined up that will see Luena Farm become one of the top employer of Kawambwa district.
 
Mr Chipeta told ZANIS in an interview that having already created more than 500 jobs so far, Luena Farm block is this year expects to employ close to 900 local people.
 
He stated that with the coming on board of cooperating partners like the Road Development Agency (RDA) and ZESCO to construct a road leading to the block and power the station respectively, so much economic activities will be experienced at Luena.
 
And Mr Chipeta disclosed that over KR250,000 has been budgeted this year to conduct demarcations at the block with 90 percent of the work having been done already.
 
Meanwhile, Labour and Social Security Deputy Minister Ronald Chitotela, says government’s decentralisation programme is key to reducing the problems of urbanisation in the country.
 
Mr Chitotela who is in Luapula province on a familiarising tour of projects in his constituency, Pambashe described as unprecedented the development that has been recorded in districts since the Patriotic Front (PF) assumed office.
 
Mr Chitotela cited Luena Farm block as one of the areas that is aimed at fostering development closer to the people through the creation of employment.
 
He said several development projects were being undertaken in his area among them upgrading of the Mushota road whose contract has already been signed with a Chinese contractor.
 
Mr Chitotela added that the contractor has been on site to observe the road and would be able to commence works by April next month.
