DR Kenneth Kaunda says late Venezuela president, Hugo Chavez was a great leader.

And Dr Kaunda is expected to be honoured with a doctorate degree by Incheon University of South Korea in April this year for his extemporary contribution to Africa.

Interview yesterday shortly after South Korea’s Incheon Metropolitan City vice-mayor, Kim Hyo-Seok, visited the first Republican president’s residence, Dr Kaunda said Chavez was a great leader of Venezuela and a good and loving friend to developing countries.

His greatness was his love for the poor not only in his country but even in developing countries,” Dr Kaunda said.

What he did for Venezuela speaks volumes.”

Chavez, died on Tuesday aged 58 after battling with cancer for nearly two years.

Seven days of mourning have been declared and late Chavez’s funeral will take place on Friday.

A teary-eyed Dr Kaunda said he prayed that the great people of Venezuela get a chance to elect a “brother” to late President Chavez.

We hope the good Lord Almighty will guild them towards finding a leader similar in quality, in thought, word with Chavez,” added Dr Kaunda.

Meanwhile, the Incheon University, which is operated by the municipal government of Incheon Metropolitan City of South Korea, plans to honour Dr Kaunda.

According to Incheon Metropolitan City vice-mayor, Kim Dr Kaunda would be expected to travel to South Korea between 15th and 19th April.

Kim said Dr Kaunda would be engaged on how the municipal government of Incheon Metropolitan City could jointly co-operate on issues to do with climate change.

Thereafter, he will be given a honorary doctorate from Incheon University and a certificate of honorary citizenship,” he said.

He also said the municipal government of Incheon Metropolitan City seeks to also help develop the Lusaka city.

Kim, who was in the company of Incheon Metropolitan city investment promotion advisor Choi Jun Ho, said Incheon was extremely interested in establishing sister city relations with the Lusaka city in a bid to promote growth through exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.
