Police records five deaths of human causes

-Police in Lusaka have arrested a 35 – years – old man of Musokota village in Chongwe for killing a 41 years old man of the same village.

 

Patrick Tembo is alleged to have murdered Abraham Sifuba yesterday around 16: 00 hours at Musokota village in Chongwe after the two picked up a quarrel suggesting that the deceased Sifuba liked sleeping with pregnant women.

 

In the event of the argument Tembo picked a stick and hit the deceased on the head.

 

Tembo has since been charged with murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code and cap 87 of the laws of Zambia while the body of the deceased is lying in Chongwe district hospital mortuary.

 

And on the Copperbelt two people yesterday died in separate fatal accidents after they were hit by motor vehicles.

 

In Chambeshi, a man identified as Sam Phiri aged 40, of Kambeba road Lubuto west in Ndola was hit by a Toyota Hilux registration number ACL 9615 which was been driven by Mulambi Bwalya of house number 13002 Lubuto west Ndola.

 

The incident is believed to have happened when the motor vehicle was being driven from west to east and in the process went to hit a pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries and died at Ndola Central hospital.

 

In a similar accident, a five years old girl of Lusaka west yesterday died on the spot after being hit by a motor vehicle in a hit and run accident.

 

The accident which happened around 08:00 hors at King George Secondary School along Twikatane road involved a Toyota Land Cruiser registration Number AAZ 9716 which was being driven by Ignitus Sakala of unknown address in Chanzanga compound.

 

It is believed that the accident happened when the driver of the said vehicle failed to keep to the near side and went to hit the pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.

 

It is further alleged that after the accident Sakala drove off and hid in Chingwere Cemetery

.

The two accused drivers in the respective accidents have since been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to section 161 of the Road Transport Act number 11 of 2002 of the laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.

 

In another development, a cyclist yesterday died on the spot after he was hit by a Golf VW registration number ABT 265 which was been driven by Nelson Paul Musenge of house number 32 Mupapa street Kabundi North in Chingola.

 

It is believed that the accident happened when both the motorist and cyclist were moving in the same direction from east to west and in the process the motorist failed to keep to his near side and went to hit the cyclist who then sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.

 

Musenge the driver of the vehicle has since been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to section 161 of the Road Traffic Act number 11 of 2001 of the laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.

 

Meanwhile the body of the deceased male cyclist is lying in Nchanga North Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

 

This was contained in a prèss statement made available to ZANIS by Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Elizabeth Kanjela in Lusaka today.

Ms Kanjela has since appealed to members of the public who may find their relatives or friend missing to get in touch with the police.
