ACC arrests Luanshya councilor

The Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) in Kitwe has arrested a Luanshya councilor and another person for corrupt practices involving KR1000.

 

In a statement to ZANIS today, ACC Acting Spokesperson Queen Chibwe named the arrested as Gershom Mpundu, a Patriotic Front (PF) councilor for word 23 Baluba in Luanshya and Everisto Chisenga a resident of Mpatamato in Luanshya.

 

Ms. Chibwe said the dual was arrested last Friday and charged with corrupt practices with a private body contrary to section 20 sub- section 2 as read together with section 66 of the Anti-Corruption   Act No. 3 of 2012.

 

Details are that Gershom Mpundu and Everisto Chisenga on dates unknown but between 1st and 17th April 2012 in Luanshya jointly and whilst acting together corruptly gave KR1000 cash gratification to Yamson Njalili a human resource office at 15 MCC Milyashi Mines.

 

She said the money was given as an inducement for Yamson Njalili to offer employment to Everisto Chisenga at 15 MCC Milyashi Mines, a matter concerning 15 MCC Milyashi Mine a private body.

 

Ms. Chibwe said the two are remanded at Luanshya prison awaiting bail ruling from Luanshya Subordinate Court to take place on 7th March 2013.
