DEC arrests 3 FRA employees for alleged theft by agent

 

Lusaka, February, 19.ZANIS—The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested three Food Reserve Agency (FRA) employees in Choma District for alleged theft by agent involving over KR2 million.

 

Andrew Chinyemba ,48, of plot number 36,Kamunza Township  , a Depot Supervisor at FRA, Killian Miyanda ,36, of Plot Number 644B Shampande Compound, a Depot Clerk at FRA, and  Mooka Wilson Mooka ,25, of plot number 220 A Shampande Township, a Depot Clerk at FRA,  have been arrested and jointly charged with theft by agent and possession of property  suspected to be proceeds of crime.

 

Particulars of the offence are that between 1st July and December 31st 2012, the trio whilst working for FRA at Choma main storage sheds in their capacity as Depot supervisor and clerks, who were responsible for receiving maize from different satellite depots in the district, did steal 31,933 by 50 kg of maize worth KR 2,075,645.00.

 

The suspects are on Police bond and will appear in court soon.

 

Meanwhile the commission in Lusaka has arrested a 44 year old Nigerian National for trafficking in cocaine.

 

John Okeke, 44, a Businessman, residing at Libala South Township in Lusaka was arrested for trafficking in 3 rocks of cocaine.

 

And a Nigerian National arrested by the DEC on November 16th 2012 for trafficking in 240g of cocaine has been convicted by the Luanshya Magistrate Court.

 

Peter Chikwunonse Nwoye has been sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour, with effect from the date of his arrest.
