Police warn, caution Garry Nkombo

Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo is being investigated by the Police in connection with the death of Harry Chanda who was killed in Livingstone on the 25th of  February, 2013.

Zambian Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says Mr. Nkombo has since been warned and cautioned for manslaughter.

In a statement made available to Q-News Ms. Katongo has disclosed that this follows continued investigations in which the Police has been linking people could have participated in murder.

Ms. Katongo states that the Mazabuka lawmaker was therefore summoned today the 17th of September at Woodlands Police station for questioning and after which he was warned and cautioned.

She says in this case, one person identified as Henry Lungu of Libuyu, Livingstone was arrested and jointly charged with other unknown persons and convicted for manslaughter on the 09th of March 2017.

Ms. Katongo notes that the offense of manslaughter is contrary to section 199 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and Lungu is currently serving a six year sentence with hard labour.

She says investigations into this matter have continued.
