BRIBE TAKING TRAFFIC OFFICERS ANNOY MAZABUKA MOTORISTS

The cat & mouse – like relationship between the police and motorists has continued showing its ugly head and angering motorists in Southern province.

Taxi drivers in the region have complained to Byta FM News that the conduct of some traffic police officers on the road is unprofessional and is likely to cause accidents if not checked.

Drivers, particularly in Mazabuka have accused ‘some hungry officers’ of mounting what they have termed as “illegal roadblocks,” while taking bribes from motorists found wanting.

The drivers further complain that the undesignated roadblocks can lead to accidents, urging police officers to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

But Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Bonny Kapeso says there is no need for Police to get permission on where to mount road blocks.

He has further advised motorists in Mazabuka to take their genuine complaints to the Commanding Officer in the district.
