Information has emerged that ZANACO is paying K360, 000 per year, for the Council owned Car Park at FINDECO House thereby, displacing motorists in a deal the Lusaka Mayor has continuously admitted to be ignorant on.

Motorists were recently displaced from the facility after Parkrite entered an agreement with ZANACO that only allowed the bank’s employees to park their vehicles while others were denied access.

It has now been two months, and the details of the agreement remained unknown as ZANACO Corporate Affairs Manager Kingsley Kaswende and the Lusaka City Council could not avail information when queried.

The development annoyed tenants occupying office space at Findeco house, who now have no convenient parking space after ZANACO took over the car park.

And when contacted for a comment, Local Government Minister, Vincent Mwale said he is not aware of the agreement to lease out the car park to ZANACO by the council through Parkrite.

Mr. Mwale says the local authority should therefore, explain itself without fail.

Meanwhile, Lusaka City Council Town Clerk Alex Mwansa has told Millennium Radio that Parkrite says they leased the car park to ZANACO because it was being abused by members of the public.

A contract that has been obtained by Millennium Radio between Parkrite and ZANACO was signed on the 24th of January, 2018 by a Diana Kangwa on behalf of ZANACO.

Particulars of the contract are that ZANACO reserved 100 parking bays at K300 each per month up to 31st December, 2018 with an option for auto renewal.

The total amount is payable before the bank occupies the facility, meaning the amount was already paid in full.

A check by Millennium Radio shows that the car park in question however, only has about 85 parking slots available, leaving no room for members of the public to secure parking space.
