ABOUT HIS HEALTH: PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says his health is public

“When I am sick, I will tell you about my health. People are saying that I am sick, but if I am sick, I will take medicine. It is because you can hide illness but you can’t hide death. I keep [on] telling Amos Chanda that tell the people my state of health. Health is what we are doing here, health is what we do every day, what we eat, how we behave, how much we drink – that’s health! Some of you look very healthy but I will be there at your obituary, That’s God’s secret with life and death,” President Lungu said.

ABOUT LUSAMBO:

And President Lungu says the Speaker of the National Assembly should have given Lusaka Province minister and Kabushi PF member of parliament Bowman lusambo stiffer punishment than the 30-day suspension for slapping Chishimba Kambwili at Parliament grounds.

Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Maina Soko medical centre in Lusaka yesterday, President Lungu said if he was sick, the nation would know through Amos Chanda, the State House spokesperson.

“You can conquer everything but you can’t conquer death. So, those who think I’m dead or dying, I’m telling you that I’m still around. When I’m sick, I will tell you and when my marriage is in problems, I will tell you. When my marriage is on rocks, I will tell you but so far so good.”

And President Lungu said he wished Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini had given Lusambo a stiffer punishment.

He said he did not even know now what name to call Lusambo.

“The provincial minister for Lusaka, I don’t know what to call him now; the gentleman has a lot of names! I’m told he is the boxer now but that is not a good name. Find a better name like the peacekeeper,” President Lungu said.

“I wish the Speaker had recommended a stronger punishment to me. Learn lessons from this. I know you are repentant.”

He urged Lusambo to serve his sentence from Speaker Matibini with humility.

Meanwhile, the Head of State noted that well-meaning Zambians ought to support infrastructure development across the country.

“We cannot attain meaningful and sustainable development without quality and adequate infrastructure. Infrastructure development is the foundation of our national development,” said President Lungu.
