CITY OF LUSAKA FC SET TO DISBANDED

City of Lusaka FC is set to be disbanded today as reliable sources indicate that the clubs main sponsor Diego Cassili is tired of the infighting at the club and has decided that the club will seize to exist under City of Lusaka 2000 PLC which owns the club.

The decision comes in the wake of the Football Association of Zambia’s press release that it would only recognise and deal with the Justin Zulu led executive which was duly elected as City of Lusaka’s representatives in January 2017.

City of Lusaka 2000 PLC dissolved the executive early this year and named a board of Directors with renowned Lusaka Lawyer Chifumu Banda as the Chairman of the board but the Zulu executive hit back by stating that they could not be dissolved as they had been elected into the positions.

Things came to a head when both sides named coaches for this season’s Division 1 campaign and also had the two teams training from two different venues with the Boards team training from the Vodafone Woodlands Stadium and the Zulu exco’s team training from Corporative college.

Cassili whose company Forli Limited is a majority shareholder in City of Lusaka PLC 2000 has met stiff resistance ever since he started sponsoring the side in 2017 with some questioning how his company Forli Limited became a majority shareholder in a community team but City of Lusaka 2000 PLC has responded by stating that City has never actually been a community club and simply has support from the community.

The confusion seems to have frustrated Cassili and there is a meeting that has been called today at the Vodafone Woodlands Stadium at 16:00 with an expected announcement that the legendary club will be disbanded.
