olitical analyst Neo Simutanyi has charged that Monday’s Constitutional Court ruling on the presidential election petition has left a lingering doubt on the legitimacy of President Edgar Lungu’s reelection.

Dr. Simutanyi says by dismissing the petition filed by the UPND without a hearing, Zambians have been denied the opportunity to know what really transpired during the August polls.

He says the Constitutional Court also failed to help the losers of the August general election to concede defeat.

In an interview with Qfm News, Dr. Simutanyi adds that this means that the divisions brought about by the outcome of the general election in the country has not been healed.

He says it is therefore clear to him that the Constitutional Court was incompetent to hear the petition before it and that the judges showed gross indiscipline.

Dr. Simutanyi says he intends to consult and see whether the alleged gross indiscipline by the judges can be referred to the Judicial Complaints Authority.

He states that the Courts need to be helped to keep in line with Article 143 of the Republican Constitution.
