Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi has charged that Zambians are in a dangerous situation following the leadership vacuum currently prevailing in the country.
And the FDD Leader has demanded that the entire Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) leadership be disbanded immediately for failing to conduct credible elections.
Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka this morning, Ms Nawakwi says twenty days after the elections, the country seems not to have direction where it’s heading.
She says Zambia is at a crossroad and Zambians are worried as to where the country is headed to as almost all things have stalled.
Ms Nawakwi says the country is on auto pilot following the petition filed against the re-election of President Edgar Lungu in the Constitutional court.
And Ms Nawakwi says for the nation to hold credible and transparent elections, there is need to disband the entire ECZ and bring in fresh people who can be trusted by the majority Zambians.
She says the current ECZ leadership has proved to be stubborn as they are not willing to listen to concerns raised by various stakeholders as seen from the insistence to print ballot papers in Dubai against the wishes of stakeholders.
