A TAXI driver of Butondo township in Mufulira has been strangled by criminals who also stole his vehicle, Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga has said.

Ms Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Tuesday night around 22:00 hours and identified the victim as Edward Ng’andwe of house No. 174C.
She said Mr Ng’andwe’s body had visible marks of strangulation on his neck and the body was dumped in the bush near St Thomas Catholic Church on the Mufulira-Mokambo road.
Mr Ng’andwe was driving a Toyota Corolla worth K34,000.

“The taxi driver was murdered by unknown people who hired his taxi from Butondo. A wire is suspected to have been used to strangle the deceased as there were visible marks on his neck,” Ms Katanga said.
