Seventy one thousand seven hundred and two candidates that sat for the grade 12 examinations last year have obtained school certificates while 49,302 candidates have obtained general School certificates.

Minister of General Education John Phiri disclosed this at a media briefing in Lusaka today.

Dr Phiri disclosed the 30 thousand 750 of the 71 thousand 702 that obtained the school certificates are girls while 40 thousand 952 are boys.

 

He said 25, 489 of the 49, 302 are boys while 23, 813 girls obtained general school certificates.

The Minister said Eastern Province has recorded the highest pass rate followed by Southern and Muchinga Province.

He disclosed that Lusaka stands at the fourth, Central province came out fifth and Northen Province at 6th position.

Dr Phiri said Luapula Province stands at number seven, followed by Western then North Western province while Copperbelt Province came out last.

The minister further said there were 33 cases of examination suspected malpractices recorded.
