Zambia’s Chipolopolo has been declared ready to battle for the fast-becoming prestigious African Nations Championships(CHAN) tournnament, following  an injury-free succesful preparation program that concluded in South Africa today with a 0-0 draw practice match against Premier Soccer League(PSL) side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Coach George Lwandamina who expressed satisfaction with the players’ commitment, earliar on sunday edged-out neighbours Angola 2-1,in the team’s first real competitive preparatory match having barely shifted training camp from Lusaka to Johannesburg,South Africa on January 8th.

The 23-man locally-based squad is set to fly to Kigali,Rwanda on thursday morning January 14th,in time for the tournament’s kick-off on January 16th 2016.

Zambia is in Group ‘D’ and will play her first match against neighbours Zimbabwe on January 19th,before facing Uganda on January 23rd,and conclude on January 27th,against Mali of West Africa.

The Chipolopolo boys go into the tournament seeking revenge against Zimbabwe who eliminated them during 2014CHAN qualifiers, and later hope to tame a Ugandan side that is currently the Group’s best ranked team in Africa on 12th position;while defeating Mali who comprise of mostly U23 players will be enough for the ‘copper bullets’ to book a place into the quarter-final stage.
