Police in Lusaka have summoned veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga after Kabushi aspiring candidate Bowman Lusambo lodged in a complaint over Mwaanga’s election comments.
Officers in plain clothes from the Zambia Police Service last evening dropped off a call out at Mwaanga’s residence in Lusaka’s Olympia Park.
The Police Officers requested the former Information and Broadcasting Minister to report for interviews on Thursday but Mwaanga informed them he needed more time to organize himself as he needed to appear with lawyers.
On Monday, Kabushi aspiring Parliamentary candidate Bowman Lusambo lodged in a complaint with the Zambia Police over Mwaanga’s comments that political parties needed to be vigilant ahead of the 2016 elections because they may be rigged.
Lusambo said Mwaanga’s comments had the potential to undermine the electoral process and if Mwaanga had evidence supporting his statement, he needed to avail it to the Police.
Mwaanga is expected to appear before the Police on friday at 14hrs.
