A Ndola based truck driver has wounded a youth in Solwezi after he allegedly shot him in an attempt to scare away looters when his truck laden with cooking oil overturned at Kipushi border post.

The shooter has been apprehended to help with investigations. The wounded man identified as Heaman Sampa, also of Ndola, aged between 20 and 25, was struck on the arm by a bullet on Wednesday after Ronald Mwenya attempted to disperse a crowd from looting goods on his truck.

North Western Province Police commissioner Luckson Sakala confirmed the incident yesterday.

He said Sampa has since been treated at Solwezi general Hospital but Mwenya has remained in custody to help with investigations.
