Footballer in court for obtaining money by false pretences

LOCAL footballer Ali Kalifa is expected to appear before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for obtaining K5,000 from an unsuspecting victim by falsely pretending that he was Patriotic Front provincial youth secretary.

The footballer is charged with obtaining money by false pretences contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Kalifa, 26 on October 9, in Lusaka, with intent to defraud or deceive, obtained K5,000 cash from Ignatius Mwape by falsely pretending that he was a provincial youth secretary for PF and that the latter had been invited to a PF breakfast meeting when in fact not.

Kalifa, who is detained at Kamwala Remand Prison, is expected to take plea before principal resident magistrate Mwaka Mikalile today.
