The Lusaka Magistrates Court has acquitted a Pathologist and four others for drug trafficking.

Magistrate Sylvia Munyinga acquitted Dr. Daniel Maswahu, one of the only two pathologists in Zambia, who has been in prison for three hundred days, due to lack of evidence.

Magistrate Munyinya said as a medical doctor the accused is allowed to be in possession of the Tenamphetamine /MDA drug contrary, to the accusation by the Drug Enforcement Commission.

In this matter, Dr. Daniel Maswahu is jointly charged with Hitler Adolf Simwanza, Stanford Hakabale, Chongo Nyanga and Andrew Mwendalubi.

The court further observed that the State had failed to prove the accusation of drug trafficking.

Speaking after the acquittal, Dr. Maswahu said he is not bitter and that he will go back to work to serve Zambians.
