A-17-YEAR-OLD boy of Kapisha township in Chingola has been committed to Katombora Reformatory School after being found guilty of defilement and two counts of indecent assault by the Chingola magistrate’s court.
The boy was facing one count of defilement and two counts of indecent assault.
In the first count the juvenile had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 in Chingola on April 23 this year.
In the second and third counts he indecently assaulted two girls aged six and eight years in Chingola on the same date.
The juvenile denied all the charges when he appeared for plea.
During trial, the victim in the first count told the court that the named boy had sex with her when he sent her friends to buy fritters.

The court heard that the boy also indecently assaulted the other girl after they returned from buying fritters.
And presenting a social welfare report to the court, probation officer Changa Mabanti expressed sadness at the irresponsible conduct of the juveniles in the district.
“Juvenile delinquency is mainly caused by peer pressure. Children should be guided on the type of friends they should have,” she said.
In mitigation the boy begged for leniency saying he was sorry for his actions.
But magistrate Shadreck Chanda committed him to Katombora Reformatory School.
“I have heard what you have said in mitigation and noted that you are a first offender, but the offences you committed are very serious. Therefore, you will go to Katombora so that you can reform and become a better citizen,” Mr Chanda said.
And SHIKANDA KAWANGA reports from Livingstone that a magistrate’s court has sentenced a 21-year-old man to two years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a necktie, among other household items.
Magistrate Benjamin Mwelwa jailed Dismas Chewe of Livingstone’s Dambwa North Extension, who had pleaded not guilty to housebreaking and theft.
It is alleged that on September 29 this year, Chewe, while acting together with other unknown people, broke and entered Brian Matakala’s house and stole a necktie and two laptop computers.
Chewe also stole a microwave, two pairs of shoes, sneakers, a shirt, mattress cover, two bags, a solar pump, a calculator and eight pots.
