Lungu must accept his wrongs first before national day of prayer-FDD

While we welcome President Edgar Lungu’s call for national reconciliation and prayer, we wish to clearly state that there can never be genuine reconciliation if those that have wronged others don’t accept their wrongs and offer apologies.
The onus is on president Lungu and his government to take responsibility of their actions towards their critics and the general citizenry. As FDD, we are on record of reaching out to President Lungu and his Government. We have written to the president several times, we have reached out to his ministers, seeking audience to sit down and discuss national issues but the president and his government have never bothered to respond, not even to acknowledge receipt of our correspondence or our.
While shouting One Zambia One Nationa president Lungu has been preaching and tolerating tribalism. He has been dividing this nation with his tribal Wako Ni Wako politics; he has embraced and shielded his Secretary General, Davies Chama despite his wanton insulting tribal remarks against the Tonga people. He has failed to tame his Deputy Secretary General, Mumbi Phiri who has been spewing slugs of political hogwash against fellow political leaders.

President Edgar Lungu should know that there can never be genuine reconciliation when there is no remorse and change of attitude and behaviour on the part of those who have offended others. If Edgar Lungu means well with his call to reconciliation he should take the following practical steps:
1. Apologise to the nation and stop his tribal Wako Ni Wako politics.
2. Censure and take punitive measures against Davies Chama for his insults against the Tonga people.
3.Bring to an end all manner of political violence and persecution being orchestrated, sponsored and perpetrated by PF cadres and The Zambia Police Force.
4. Call for open and honest dialogue with all stakeholders on national issues. The president has to take the initiative to call for meetings with the opposition and other stakeholders.
5. End hostilities and threats against media houses, individuals and institutions that are critical of his leadership.
5. Stop the abuse of the public media and allow them to cover divergent and opposing views from the opposition parties and other stakeholders. ZNBC, Daily Mail and Times of Zambia are being used as propaganda media outlets for the PF. The rest of us have completely been blacked out.
The President should realise that genuine reconciliation is an act and not mere speech.
