A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl has narrated before the Kitwe Magistrate’s Court that her aunt treated her private parts with a cream after she was defiled and wounded by her uncle.
This is in a matter where Andrew Njovu, 41, of house number 186, Buchi, in Kitwe, was appearing before magistrate Ruth Kapulo on one count of defilement involving his younger brother’s daughter.
Particulars of the offence are that on dates unknown between April and June this year, Njovu had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.

When the matter came up for trial recently, the girl told the court that on a day she could not remember, she went for a holiday at her aunt’s place in Buchi, who lived with her brother (accused).
She testified that one night, she was sleeping alone in the living room when her uncle sneaked in naked.

“While I was sleeping alone in the sitting room, my uncle came and he was not wearing anything. He undressed me and put something in my private parts. I felt a lot of pain. After he finished, he threatened to beat me up if I told anyone and he went to his bedroom,” she said.
The court heard that later on, the girl’s aunt discovered that she had been defiled after she developed sores on her private parts.

“I told her that my uncle who is my dad’s elder brother had defiled me, and she bought some medicine which looked like Vaseline and she started applying it on my private part until I got healed,” she said.
She further testified that her parents only learnt about what had happened to her when she returned home after the school holiday.
Trial continues.
