TWO grade 12 pupils of Kitwe may not sit for their final examinations following their conviction and imprisonment for assault.
The Kitwe Magistrate’s Court sentenced Geoffrey Daka and Ernest Banda, both aged 19 and residents of Kwacha, to six months imprisonment on two counts of assault.
Particulars of the offence are that, in count one, on July 6, this year in Kitwe, the pair assaulted Jonas Kayatayali, wounding him.

The court heard that the duo met the victims at Kwacha Market where they attacked and wounded them.
In count two, on the same day, the duo assaulted Pande Buadi.
In mitigation, the duo told the court that they were in their final secondary school grades and about to write grade 12 examinations later this year.

But in his judgment, Kitwe senior resident magistrate Daniel Musonda wondered why the duo did not think about their education when they were committing the offence.
