Photos have emerged of former Harambee Stars skipper Dennis Oliech partying late into the night, a few hours after national football team Harambee Stars were beaten 2-1 by Zambia’s Chipolopolo in an Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifiers last Sunday.
The loss was a major set back to Stars who are seeking to end their long absence at the continental level, stretching to 11 years as they are now placed third in the qualifying group yet only the top team in the group will earn an automatic ticket to the tournament set for Gabon next year.
According to a source, the veteran striker who has had stints with a number of foreign teams including Qatar’s Al Arabi and French Ligue 1 sides Nantes, Auxerre and Ajaccio washed away the sorrows of the loss in style with friends at a famous join along Langata Road during a ‘old skull night’ session, drinking some of the most expensive whiskies and smoking shisha.
Oliech who is known to be a party animal, received his first call-up to the national team under coach Bobby Williamson for the Zambia match and featured for 62 minutes before being replaced by Allan Wanga as he failed to click against a well organised Zambia defence.
The veteran striker who started his career with Mathare United and is arguably the country’s best ever goal getter at the national level is set to be joining United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr for a year after his contract at Ajaccio ended.
