NATIONAL Sevens Rugby team has secured two international friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Namibia ahead of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic qualifying tournament slated for South Africa.

Zambia will play Namibia this month-end and face Democratic Republic of Congo on October 10 in Lubumbashi.
Sevens coach Reuben Mkandawire said, in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that, preparations for the friendlies are progressing well.
Mkandawire said the friendlies will help the team prepare adequately for the Olympic qualifying tournament.

The Olympic qualifying tournament is set for November 26-27 in Johannesburg.
He said the team will also camp for two weeks in the United States of America (USA) before leaving for South Africa.
And Zambia Rugby Union secretary Francis Chitambo said the technical bench will maintain the same team that competed in the preliminary round qualifying tournament in Rwanda.
Chitambo, however, said the technical bench will consider making minor changes to the team.
“In Rwanda, we won all the games, so we are going to maintain the same team. We might make some changes but maybe only one or two,” Chitambo said.
