A 39-YEAR-OLD woman of Kabanana Township in Lusaka has allegedly killed her two children aged nine and one and later committed suicide after suspecting her husband of having an extra-marital affair.
Lusaka police commissioner Charity Katanga said the incident occurred between September 3 and September 4.

Mrs Katanga identified the woman as Patricia Mulenga.
The woman allegedly poisoned her children with an insecticide and then poisoned herself, too, after her husband, identified as Victor Mulenga, 41, spent a night away from their matrimonial home.

Mrs Katanga said the three bodies were found on Friday and taken to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary.

She said Mr Mulenga was taken to Emmasdale police station for his own safety as there were fears that members of the community would pounce on him.

Meanwhile, CHAMBO NG’UNI reports from Kabwe that a 34-year-old mother of Serenje district has allegedly killed her newly-born baby girl.
Both Central Province police commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi and Serenje district commanding officer Kelvin Muchinda confirmed the report.

Ms Kamukoshi said the woman, identified as Sera Miselo of Winyinata in Chieftainess Serenje’s area in Central Province, appeared before the Serenje magistrate court last week facing one count of infanticide.
She said it is suspected that the incident happened between 21:00 hours on August 24 and 19:00 hours on August 26.
