Zambia Football Association President Kalusha Bwalya has said they are delighted to have two Kenyan players featuring in the country’s top league.

Bwalya, who is in Nairobi with the Zambia national team for Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, pointed out that their league has grown tremendously in the last few years and is beginning to attract foreigners for the first time.

“It is great to have Kenyan players in our league and this shows that we are growing as a country and for the first time we have an opportunity to attract foreign players,” he told Goal.

The two Kenyans are defender David ‘Calabar’ Owino, who turns out for Zesco United and Nkana Red Devils forward Jacob Keli. Bwalya pointed out that their local teams are lucky to have their own facilities most of which were developed by mining companies.

“We are lucky that a number of our teams were fortunate to have this facilities developed by mining companies and they still exist today. Furthermore, as an association, we have come up with licensing rules that encourage the development of facilities.”
