A NINE-YEAR-OLD grade four pupil has told the Chingola Magistrate’s Court that her 49-year-old neighbour covered her face and allegedly had carnal knowledge of her after attending prayers at his house.
This is in a case where Rodgers Chivweta Kolala of 19 Zambia Road in Soweto, Chingola, is facing one count of indecent assault.
It is alleged that on February 4, last year, in Chingola, Kolala unlawfully indecently assaulted the juvenile.
The victim told senior resident magistrate Davies Chibwili that on the day in question, she went for prayers with her friends at Chivweta’s house, where he the requested her to remain behind.
“I went for prayers at his house then he told me that I should remain behind after prayers since I stayed very near. After that, I entered his house then he locked the door and forced himself on me.
“He covered my face with his hands, so I did not know what he was doing, I just felt pain on my private parts,” the girl narrated.
She told the court that she went home and hid her underwear in a box under the table because it was stained with blood.
“After I started crying, he stopped what he wanted to do to me and I went home. I discovered my pant was stained with blood, so I hid it under the table because I did not want anyone to see it.
“But my elder sister saw it when she was sweeping in the bedroom and she asked me what had happened. When I narrated the story to her, she told mum and we reported the matter to the police,” she said.
In cross-examination, Kolala accused the girl of falsely accusing him.
In response, the girl said she could not falsely accuse him because she had nothing against him, adding that she did not see what he did to her because her face was covered.
