DIVISION One (North) Roan United chairman Chisoni Miti has urged Luanshya Copper Mines (CLM) to increase sponsorship to the club.
Miti said from Luanshya yesterday that the US$120,000 (about K960,000) CLM give the team is no adequate.

“We would like to thank the sponsors of the club. They are doing a lot to sustain us and we appreciate very much but we want to make a very humble appeal. Let them double the sponsorship deal from the current US$120,000 to US$ 240, 000 per annum,” Miti said.
He said the club failed to travel to Solwezi last weekend for a Week 23 fixture against FQM because of logistical problems.

“We are currently negotiating with our sponsors on the need to increase the money that is given to the club. We could not travel to Solwezi to play FQM because of a logistical issue but we played the game on Wednesday and we drew 0-0,” Miti said.
‘Stylish’ Roan were demoted to the lower ranks last season.

And CLM head of public relations and local business development Sydney Chileya said the company has an annual budget for the club which is released in four quarters every year.
“These are January to March, April to June, July to September and October to December. The company gives the club US$30,000 every three months. That translates into US$120,000 per annum,” Chileya said.
He said in a statement that CLM also pays winning allowances to the players.

“So far, CLM has released funds to Roan United up to September. We are only remaining with the October and December 2015 grant which will be released next month. The US$ 120,000 does not include the purchase of the full kit, stadium maintenance, club house and camp house,” Chileya said.
Roan are fourth on the log with 37 points, nine adrift leaders Kalulushi Modern Stars.
