A 14-YEAR-OLD grade seven pupil of Chingola has told the Chingola Magistrate’s Court how a 19-year-old man allegedly defiled and infected her with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) while her mother was drinking beer at a nearby bar.
This is in a case in which David Chomba of E 20 Loop area in Chikola township is charged with defilement.

It is alleged that Chomba on unknown dates but in April this year, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
The girl told magistrate Joseph Malabo that on the fateful day, she was home alone when Chomba allegedly entered their house, grabbed and defiled her.

“I was at home when Chomba came and forced himself on me. It was very painful and I shouted but no one heard me. My mother was not at home because she usually goes to the bar,” the girl said.
She told the court that she did not tell anyone about the incident because she was scared of being beaten.
The girl testified that after four days, she started experiencing abdominal pains and was taken to the clinic where she was diagnosed with an STI.

“After I narrated the story to my family, my sister told me that the accused had been arrested for a similar offence. I was then taken to the police station to identify him,” she said.
In-cross examination, Chomba asked the girl why no one came to her rescue after she screamed for help.
The girl responded that no one could hear her screaming because the houses are far apart.
Mr Malabo adjourned the case to September 3, 2015.
